Fujairah Photography Award organizes a Specialized “Architectural Photography Workshop”
The Fujairah Photography Award (FPA), launched by Fujairah Culture and Media Authority (FCMA), in cooperation with the Emirates Photography Society and in coordination with Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, organized a specialized technical workshop entitled “Architectural Photography”, held at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Fujairah, with the participation of about 40 trainees from various nationalities.
The workshop was presented by engineer and artist Weal Onsy, who focused on the technical and artistic aspects of photographing architectural elements, addressing the methods of utilizing light and shadows, and wide angles, as well as the principles of geometric symmetry and natural light gradient, in order to highlight the character and aesthetics of Islamic architecture.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque was selected as the setting for the workshop due to its unique architectural aesthetics that explicitly express the elegance of modern Islamic architecture, in addition to being one of the most prominent religious, cultural and tourist attractions in the Emirate of Fujairah. With its intricate architectural details; Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque represents an ideal space for architectural photography applications.
The workshop featured hands-on sessions and field applications within the mosque, including live shooting and analyzing some photos taken by the participants, while discussing the most important strengths and aspects that can be developed in each artwork.
The participants in the workshop commended the event’s organization, the well-curated content, and the immersive artistic experience.
The Fujairah Photography Award was launched on 8th of October 2024 to support talented and efficient photographers in the UAE and abroad, and to highlight creative energies in the field of photography. Participation in the award will close on 16th of September 2025.
